A popular face on YouTube is now behind bars. Michael David Booth, 39, known online as “Mr. Crafty Pants,” was arrested on October 22nd. The star, famous for arts and crafts tutorials, faces serious charges.
He is accused of possessing and distributing explicit images of minors. The crimes allegedly occurred on the messaging app Kik.
The Charges and Court Appearance
Booth faces a total of 29 felony counts. These charges relate to possessing and distributing material showing sexual performances by minors.
He appeared in Jefferson County District Court the very next day, October 23rd. Booth entered a plea of not guilty to all charges.
Digital Trail Led Police to Suspect
The investigation began with a tip. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) alerted police to Booth’s Kik account.
Court documents reviewed by WDRB detail the evidence. A subpoena and search warrant traced the activity. The IP address used to allegedly share explicit images on Kik led directly back to Booth’s residence. This activity reportedly took place between August 5 and August 7, 2025.
WAVE News confirmed the findings. Files seized during the search included explicit images of minors both under and over the age of 12. These images had been distributed multiple times.
Held on High Bond; Channel Removed
Booth is currently being held in jail. His bond has been set at $100,000.
A judge also imposed strict conditions. Booth is barred from contacting minors. He is also banned from accessing the internet.
His once-popular “Mr. Crafty Pants” YouTube channel is gone. The channel had nearly 600,000 subscribers at the time of his arrest. It has since been taken down.
