TikTok Ban: Will the ban really be lifted? The company started hiring in India

Discussion again on TikTok ban, ByteDance started new hiring in India. Is TikTok preparing to return to India? Know the whole truth.

For the last few days, there has been a stir in social media and tech world. The reason is the discussions related to TikTok Ban. The sudden opening of the app for some time and the company’s new job postings have fueled rumors that TikTok may return to India.

In fact, TikTok’s parent company ByteDance has recently issued new hiring for its Gurugram office. This includes jobs like Content Moderator (Bengali Speaker) and Wellbeing Partnership & Operations Lead. These postings were seen on LinkedIn and other professional sites.

Government’s stand on TikTok Ban

The Government of India has made it clear that TikTok is still banned and no order has been given to unblock it. The app is still not available on Google Play Store and Apple App Store. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has termed the news of any kind of TikTok return as mere rumor.

Why is TikTok India’s return difficult?

In June 2020, the government banned 59 Chinese apps including TikTok on national security and data privacy issues. After this, Indian users rapidly moved towards local apps like Moj, Josh and MX TakaTak, while Instagram Reels took the most advantage in the short video market.

If TikTok wants to return to India, it will have to create local data servers, follow the new guidelines of the government and meet the security standards. Just like Krafton followed the local servers and new rules before re-launching BGMI (PUBG Mobile) in India.

TikTok’s focus is still on India

It is clear from the new hiring that the company is still keeping an eye on the Indian market. But at present, the possibility of TikTok Ban being lifted and the app returning immediately is very low.
