It’s an inside job. The gaming phone maker, REDMAGIC, is hiding some wild secrets. Teardown expert Zack Nelson of JerryRigEverything just exposed them. He stripped down the new REDMAGIC 11 Pro. Nelson calls it “the most powerful phone on the planet.”
This phone is truly unique. It’s the world’s first mass-produced liquid-cooled smartphone. The teardown shows exactly how.
Alien Tech Under the Hood
The cooling system is astonishing. It uses a full, circulating coolant loop. You can actually see the blue liquid moving on the transparent back.
What drives this? A tiny piezoelectric motor. It pushes the fluid through a completely sealed loop.
But wait, there’s more. The liquid system works with two other key components. There’s an internal fan that spins up to a dizzying 24,000 RPM. It also features what Nelson describes as the largest vapor chamber he has ever found in a phone.
The Lava Lamp Effect
The coolant itself is a surprise. REDMAGIC says it is a server-grade, fluorinated liquid. It won’t freeze. Nelson noticed something else, though. Small, oil-like bubbles float in the fluid. They break up and reform as the phone’s temperature changes. The visual effect is like a tiny, high-tech lava lamp.
Ironically, most of this “alien technology” is hidden. A brushed metal plate covers the complex plumbing. Nelson feels REDMAGIC missed a chance to show off the cool desktop-style internal setup.
Durability Confirmed
Despite the liquid and moving parts, the phone is tough. It passed all of Nelson’s brutal stress tests. The frame refused to bend. The screen survived the lighter test and scratches as expected.
Even more impressive: After complete disassembly and reassembly, the phone booted up perfectly. The fluid even started circulating again. The 11 Pro also carries an IPX8 water-resistance rating. That’s a huge achievement for a device with an active cooling fan.
The REDMAGIC 11 Pro starts at $749. It begins shipping globally on November 19.
