ITR Filing Deadline 2025 is near. The last date for filing ITR for non-audit holders is 15 September. More than 3 crore ITRs have been filed so far.
This year also the Income Tax Department has appealed to the taxpayers to file their returns on time. ITR Filing Deadline 2025 has been fixed as 15th September for those individuals and entities who do not require audit. That is, now only a few days are left to file the return.
The department has informed that more than 3 crore ITRs have been filed so far. At the same time, SMS reminders are being sent to those taxpayers who have not filed yet. It is clearly written in this message that – “Do not forget to e-file and e-verify your ITR before 15.09.25.”
ITR Filing Deadline 2025: Who needs to file?
According to Sanjonni Maheshwari, Executive Director, Nangia & Co LLP, if a person’s total income is more than ₹ 3 lakh, then filing ITR is mandatory.
- New Tax Regime: Exemption on income up to ₹ 3 lakh.
- Old Tax Regime: Exemption on income up to ₹ 2.5 lakh.
People often believe that ITR is only for the employed or business class. But nowadays students, youth looking for jobs and freelancers are also being encouraged to file ITR.
Benefits of filing ITR
- Financial Creditability: Filing ITR strengthens a person’s financial credit.
- Tax Refund: One gets the right to get a refund in the future.
- Convenience in Big Transactions: There is more acceptance while making big payments and transactions.
The new tax system has fewer deductions and exemptions but the rates have been kept simple and low. Whereas, in the old system, there are more exemptions but the tax rates can be relatively high.
