It was a disastrous night for the Washington Commanders. The team was already trailing badly against the Seattle Seahawks. Then, tragedy struck.
Star quarterback Jayden Daniels went down with a horrific arm injury. The clock showed 7:39 left in the game. The Commanders were losing by an insurmountable 31 points.
Now, Head Coach Dan Quinn is facing fierce backlash. Fans and analysts demand to know why Daniels was still in the contest. The final score was a lopsided 38-14.
The young quarterback is now expected to miss the remainder of the year.
Coach Quinn struggled to explain the decision afterward. “Obviously, like the hindsight, you don’t want to think that way, where an injury could take place,” Quinn admitted. “Obviously, I’m bummed.”
His teammates were visibly shaken. They gathered around the medical staff on the field. Veteran linebacker Bobby Wagner spoke on the emotional moment. “It’s really tough to see him go down,” Wagner said. “You just want him to stay positive… we’re just praying for the best.”
Guard Sam Cosmi told reporters he didn’t even see the hit. “I just heard a pause and I kind of put my head down and prayed for him,” Cosmi stated. “You just don’t want to see that happen.”
It was a painful end to a brutal night. The fallout from the coach’s decision is only just beginning.
