Butt Injection Tragedy: Woman Gets 15 Years to Life for Actress’ Death

LOS ANGELES—Justice has been served in a horrific cosmetic procedure case. A California woman received a heavy sentence this week. She got 15 years to life in state prison. The charge was for the death of an actress.

The victim was Cindyana Santangelo, 59. She was known for her role in “Married… with Children.”

The accused is Libby Adame, 55. She was convicted on October 9. The charges were second-degree murder and practicing medicine without a license. She received her sentence on November 5.

Fatal Embolism at Home

The incident occurred at Santangelo’s Malibu home on March 24. Adame performed a silicone injection on the actress’s buttocks. The procedure went tragically wrong.

The silicone tragically entered Santangelo’s bloodstream. This led to a fatal embolism. She was rushed to a local hospital but was later pronounced dead.

The victim’s husband offered chilling testimony. He told the court that Adame immediately fled their home. This happened the moment his wife started suffering convulsions after the injection.

Repeat Offender

This was not Adame’s first conviction related to these illegal procedures. She has a disturbing history.

Adame was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in March 2024. That case involved the 2019 death of 26-year-old Karissa Rajpaul. Rajpaul also died from an embolism after a procedure performed by Adame and her daughter.

Adame was sentenced to four years and four months for the 2024 manslaughter conviction. However, she was released quickly due to credit for time served and electronic monitoring.

Astonishingly, Adame resumed performing cosmetic procedures within a year of that conviction.

Prosecutors in the recent trial also presented disturbing evidence from a 2018 death. Surveillance footage showed Adame fleeing a scene. First responders were treating a woman who died after Adame’s procedure. No charges were filed in that specific 2018 case.
